The core mechanic is triage. Helena receives job requests through her inbox, each with a target profile and a fee. You must decide which contracts are worth the risk and which ones require stat investment first. Some targets demand skills you haven't yet purchased; others are low-value distractions. The decision tree is the game: turning down a lucrative job to grind cosmetics and stat points, or accepting a high-risk contract and failing the minigame that determines the kill's success. Performance in those minigames, combined with the stat bonuses you've bought, decides whether the assassination succeeds or whether you lose the job and the payday.

The spiral is intentional. Fame and infamy are currency. Successful kills generate headlines and fan mail, which unlock new requests and higher fees. You buy nice things—cosmetics that serve no mechanical purpose except to raise your stats—and watch those stats ripple back into your survival chances. It is a deliberately shallow vertical progression system, one where the game's facade of luxury and empowerment is built on a loop so clean it borders on hypnotic. Whether that loop stays tense for the game's duration, or whether killing and buying collapse into routine well before you reach the endgame, is the open question.

Femme Fatality is a prequel to the developer's earlier work Liminal Void, telling Helena's origin story from her first kill forward. The release date and PC-only platform mean it lands without the friction of porting or platform parity, and the scope—a contained simulation rather than a sprawling open world—matches the design.

A Game About Systems, Not Spectacle

The reference material emphasizes stats, follower count and unlockable lore. This is a game where your progression is visible as a number, your reputation as a meter, and your story as scraps you collect. There is no narrative cutscene delivering Helena's arc; you learn who she is through flavour text attached to cosmetics and through the cold logic of which targets she accepts.
